Dead Space 2 Tips & Hints

Issac Clark makes his return in Dead Space 2, only to wake up to the horrors of his past that he thought he escaped from. How can he escape this Hell In Space?

Dead Space 2 is not for the faint hearted, it surely is a lot more surprising and scary as Dead Space 1. The new addition to some pretty creepy Necromorphs added the scare factor to Dead Space 2.

Necromorph List

Slasher
Slashers are the "backbone" of the Necromorph horde. They are easily distinguished by their brutal bladed hands and long arms. They are strong melee attackers and can
be a serious threat when in packs of 3-4. They will ramble towards you, but may run at you at any moment which makes them an unpredictable enemy.

Tips: Since Slashers are a melee attacking enemy, it is best to keep your distance and use ranged attack. The Plasma cutter works wonders against them as it cuts their limbs off with ease. Do not attempt to go toe to toe with them unless it is a last resort.

Lurker
Lurkers are a baby like necromorph with three tentacles that open out from its spine. These tentacles fire projectiles at you from a long range. They also have the ability to walk on walls making them a difficult enemy to track down at some points.

Tips: Wait for the Lurker to expose its tentacles and cut them with either the Line Gun or the Plasma Cutter. Sometimes shooting 2 of the tentacles is enough to kill them, but most cases you have to cut all 3 off. Make sure to keep your distance and avoid the projectiles as best as you can.

Exploder
Exploders are Necromorphs with a  yellow sac full of a type of volatile puss. If the exploder gets to close to you, it will swing the yellow sac and smash it into the ground, resulting in (sometimes) an instant (Gory) death.

Tips:
Always attack the Exploder yellow sac as soon as you see an exploder.
They also have a tendency of getting towards you quite quickly and surprise attacking you if you are not careful. Also if you attack the sac whilst the Exploder is in a group of Necromorphs, it will explode and instantly kill all Necromorphs around it. Another good tip is too shoot the sac off the Exploder (Do Not shoot the sac otherwise this tactic will not work) and kill the exploder normally, you then have a free "grenade" if you carry it around using the telekinesis module.

 Leaper
Leapers are smaller than normal Necromorphs and walks with two arms. It has a scorpion like tail that is deadly if you are attacked by it. Leapers look half animal - half scorpion. They do also attack with their arms, but more commonly attack with their tails.

Tips:
Use stasis on them as they are very quick. Aim for their arms and tails. Also be careful as they are capable of climbing walls and then leaping at you.

 Pregnant Necromorph
Pregnant Necromorph's look like fat, pregnant Necromorphs. These Necromorphs breed another type of Necromorph called a Swarmer (I will cover this one next). If you shoot its stomach, the swarmer's crawl out of it.

Tips:
Use Stasis to slow down the Pregnant Necromorph as this'll increase you chances of shooting its small legs instead of its stomach by accident. When it is crawling on the floor using its arms, just shoot them off to finish it off. The Swarmer will not be released if you don't shoot the stomach

Swarmer
Swarmer's appear inside the stomachs of Pregnant Necromorphs as i said above. But they can also be found without Pregnant Necromorphs. They are weak but are always found in packs, giving them power in numbers.

Tips: The best weapons to use against Swarmer's are: The Flamer, Pulse gun or the Ripper. Swarmer's ONLY have a melee attack, but the melee attack can easily leave you vulnerable to other Necromorphs.

Infector
Infector's are a bat like Necromorph that walks on its two arms. Beware that the main attack of an Infector is to insert a parasite into a human corpse, turning it into a Necromorph. They also have a minor melee attack if they get close enough.

Tips: Make sure to kill an Infector first, otherwise you'll have to deal with all the Necromorphs it'll create. From what i know there is no real Weakspot to shoot at. But just to be safe, shoot its wings/arms. Or just use a strong gun like the Contact Beam

Puker                                               Pukers are a ranged attacking Necromorph that fires out projectile corrosive vomit at you. It is best to strafe whilst fighting these as the vomit will slow you down drastically for a few seconds, as well as deal a Damage Over Time (DoT) on you.

Tips: Pukers are best killed like Slashers, shoot the legs off with the plasma cutter and then finish it off by taking out its arms. If the Vomit hits you and you are low on health, use a health pack!

Brute
Brutes are more of a mini-boss than a conventional Necromorph. It is extremely strong and represents a gorilla as it "walks" on its front arms. They will appear as scripted Necromorphs as they will only appear in specific moments of the game. Whilst fighting one, make sure to keep well away from it, as it has a devastating melee attack.

Tips: Brutes only have 1 weak spot, its shoulders. Aim for them with any weapon, although the Contact beam or Plasma cutter work well against it. The contact beam also has to potential to destroy the shoulder you shot at with one hit. When you have shot its shoulder and its arm comes off. It will start to fire Explosive Sac's at you. You can either shoot these or catch them with the Telekinesis module, and fire it back.

The Pack
The Pack are children transformed into Necromorphs. They now hunt down their prey as a pack, with brute force. They will always hunt in packs but are easy to kill. One shot from any gun, anywhere will kill them.

Tips: Use the pulse rifle or Plasma Cutter to kill them, as they have a quick fire rate. Always keep an eye out as they can very quickly ambush you and kill you, DO NOT Underestimate these Necromorphs! I personally put my back against a wall while fighting these as they do come at you from behind.

Crawler
Crawlers look similar to Lurkers but instead of tentacles on their back, they have yellow cysts similar to that on an Exploder. The attack of a Crawler is just like an Exploder. When they crawl close to you, they explode. Although they aren't as powerful as Exploders, they still do some damage.

Tips: Crawlers normally fight in packs. A good tactic against them is to wait for them to bunch up and then make one explode, resulting in most of them exploding in a chain reaction. You can also shoot their heads off and pick them up with the Telekinesis Module and throw them like a grenade, similar to the Exploder tactic.
